Message
The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines joins the Filipino communities in the United States of America and in the Caribbean in commemorating the 122nd Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
As we reflect on the significance of this year's celebration, it is equally important to recognize the various ways and opportunities by which we can rally our communities to support and uplift one another during this unprecedented time of crisis.
Our Independence Day theme, "Kalayaan 2020: Tungo sa Bansang Malay, Nagbabayanihan, at Ligtas" (Towards a Free, United, and Safe Nation), calls on the indomitable Filipino spirit to once again rise up to the challenges that the whole world is facing today, and together contribute towards building a brighter future for the Filipino people.
Let us likewise raise our flag and salute our Filipino and Filipino-American front liners - our doctors, nurses, medical professionals, and essential workers - who are making tremendous sacrifices for our health and safety in the Philippines, the United States, and in the Caribbean. May we draw inspiration from them as we move forward through this difficult time with the resiliency, dedication, and heart that Filipinos are known for.
While the Philippine government is unwavering in its commitment to ensure the welfare and safety of all Filipinos back home and abroad, it is also our duty as responsible citizens to abide by the laws and safety measures being implemented by the governments in our host countries. The Philippine Embassy and the Consulates General in the United States remain open to serve, assist, and engage you as we continue to battle the coronavirus pandemic together, and transition to the new normal in the months to come.
Let us continue to pray for our country and for the world. With faith, hope, and compassion, we will heal and rise as one.
Maligayang araw ng kalayaan at mabuhay ang sambayanang Filipino!
