August is International Humanitarian Law Month

As part of the national observance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Day, which is every 12th of August based on Executive Order No. 134, s. 1999, the Department of Foreign Affairs and its Foreign Service Posts around the world support the activities of the IHL Ad Hoc Committee, currently chaired by the Department of National Defense (DND), in promoting IHL throughout the month of August and raising awareness on the need for all parties in conflict to #RespecttheRulesofWar.

The theme for this year's observance of IHL Day is: "Preserving Human Dignity in Times of Armed Conflict: A Shared Responsibility."

Help us raise awareness on the significance of International Humanitarian Law. Spread the word and ask all parties in conflict to #RespecttheRulesofWar.
